Ashley is currently in her fifth year at The Pennsylvania State University, studying Architectural Engineering with a concentration in Lighting & Electrical Design.  She plans to graduate with a Bachelor’s of Architectural Engineering in May of 2018.

The past two summers, Ashley has interned for two different lighting design firms.  Over the summer of 2016 she had her first internship at Lewis Lighting Design, which is a small lighting design firm located in Boston, Massachusetts.  Here she gained insight on what goes into coordinating and completing a project.  This past summer she went out to Chicago, Illinois and worked as an intern for Schuler Shook: Theatre Planning and Lighting Design.  Here she was exposed to many more aspects of the industry that she was able to use to help expand her knowledge in the lighting design field.  These experiences provided her insight and different views of the design industry.  Each city, as well as company, had its own unique style, design process, and cliental base offering a view of both the East Coast and Midwest view of the industry.

In addition to academics, Ashley has been very involved with the Student Society of Architectural Engineers (PSU student chapter of AEI) for the past four years and even served on the exec board for two of them.  This year, Ashley is the Vice President of The Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Penn State Student Chapter where she is working to get more underclassmen involved and interested in the field of lighting design.
